beans

inspired by a classic mid-century bean-shaped tabletop, each bean has been designed to work as an individual object, with the form of a single bean being just as important as the way two integrate together. a pair (or group) of beans is designed to interact ~ nesting, spooning, sitting perpendicular to each other, or standing alone. i wanted the design to feel playful, using curves and roundovers paired with thick, heavy tapers that encourage people to physically engage with them ~ made from sustainably sourced beech and sapele, using a handful of tools by me in my studio ~ designed to be used as side tables or to be sat on.

beech and sapele ~ each table is 435mm tall x 320mm long x 200mm wide ~ 45mm thick solid tops ~ 17-degree leg splay, tapering from 45mm > 27mm ~ joined with a 27mm wedged tenon ~ finished with Osmo Polyx hardwax oil ~ satin.
